It's hell. My son who is beginning as a writer asks if he should change his last name. His first best idea was John Bellingham, until he looked him up on Wikipedia. Consider the "C's. Christie, Cain, Child, Cornwell, Chandler, Crais, Connelly, Connoly, etc, etc, etc. Very, very disheartening. For my entire writing life, I’ve been stuck with a last name beginning with Z. It’s hell.
